How Come My Halo 3 Ranking Is Different Then What The Promotion Said?

Hello, i’ve been playing on halo 3 live for a while and it said i have been promoted to seargent grade 2, but when i click on my guy it says im still a corporal grade 2
whats happening?

U have to understand how the halo 3 rankings work.
You have obviously noticed that there are two types of playlists: the ones that gives you SKILL and EXP (RANKED) and the ones that only gives EXP (SOCIAL).
You may have also noticed that you may be many different ranks for different playlists: eg LONEWOLVES, TEAM SLAYER, SOCIAL SLAYER.
You will also have noticed that everytime you win a game in a RANKED playlist your SKILL may or may not go up but your EXP always go up for every win. In a SOCIAL playlist you can only earn EXP.
Your GLOBAL RANK (the one on your service record) will only go up if the minimum SKILL and EXP requirements are met. You can only earn SKILL in a RANKED playlist. Your PLAYLIST RANK will go up in every playlist once the required amount of EXP is earned no matter your true SKILL.
With that said the Seargent Grade 2 Ranking is the rank you earned for the playlist you are in (eg Team Snipers). The Corporal Grade 2 ranking is your actual Global Ranking, based on your highest skill and the amount of EXP you have, if you got it from your service record.
If you are confused about the rankings…
When you start a game and you are in the lobby with all the players, the rank beside there names are their Playlist ranks. The one earned solomenly by EXP and only for that playlist.
When you select their service records, the rank there is their Actual Global Rank. The one earned by SKILL and EXP and is also the one that is Permenant.

Congradulations it means you found a glitch! Naww i dont know but i do know that it you get promoted and then quit which makes you lose exp you will go back to your old halo 3 rank. Add me on XBL : Soggy Corndogz
That promotion was showing your rank on how good or how much exp you gained on that game type, but it doesn’t effect your service record. Like I have Major Grade 2 skill/exp on social slayer but I’m a captain grade 3.
You prob have to play another match…when you do that it check again and it should show up. If it doesn’t then I don’t know. Hope I helped. XBL Gamertag: Plainedge FB General grade 2
o first off there are 2 types of rankings the ones you have in that playlist and the overall one which you get well overall there you go have fun there
